Canon TC80N3 Timer Remote Control
The Canon TC-80N3 Remote Controller is a remote switch with a 80cm cord and a self-timer, interval timer, long-exposure timer, and exposure-count setting feature. The timer can be set anywhere from 1 second to 99 hours, 59 minutes, or 59 seconds. A dial enables you to easily enter the numeric settings with a single thumb. The LCD panel can also be illuminated. The rear of the Controller has a slot to store the camera’s remote control socket cap.
With much more than just timer functions the TC-80N3 can be used as an interval timer for time-lapse photography, a self-timer, and a counter to set the number of images captured (up to 99).
The real strength of the TC-80N3 unit is that these modes can be combined – for example, the interval timer with the self-timer and exposure counter for time-lapse photography of flowers opening.
This remote release is very versatile. It is often used by photographers shooting after dark, where long exposures are essential, as well as by those who employ macro and time-lapse photography. When you don’t use some of the extra timer features, it can also be used simply as a remote release to fire the camera without touching the shutter button.
The Canon TC-80N3 allows you to control:
- When the shutter opens (self-timer mode)
- How frequently the shutter opens (interval timer mode)
- How long the shutter stays open (long-exposure timer mode)
- How many exposures the camera will make in total (exposure count mode)
Functions
Cable Release
You can use the TC-80N3 like a regular cable remote. Simply half-press to wake the meter and focus, and full press to shoot. You can also press the release button and push it forward to lock the exposure in Bulb mode.
Programmable Self Timer
The self timer is settable to any time from 1 second to 100 hours. You can use the self-timer, and then have other modes, like a time exposure, work after being triggered by the self timer. All the times are set in 1 second increments as hours, minutes and seconds (HH:MM:SS).
Long Exposure Timer
You can take a timed exposure anywhere from 1 second to 100 hours long, without having to sit there and wait while holding a button the whole time.
Interval Timer
Takes a picture every 1 second to 100 hours until you tell it to stop.
Exposure Counter
Set a number of pictures you want to shoot and the TC-80N3 will automatically stop.
