This pre-owned Canon EF 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Macro Zoom Lens is a standard zoom lens designed with Canon’s Optical Image Stabilizer technology while retaining the compactness and lightness of previous models. Its stabilisation allows sharp hand-held shots at shutter speeds up to four stops slower than otherwise possible. It consists of 11 elements in 9 groups. It uses aspherical lens elements to correct aberration for excellent image quality throughout the zoom range and a circular aperture for exquisite rendering of out-of-focus backgrounds. Without a lot of size, weight or cost, this lens expands picture-taking possibilities whenever slow shutter speeds are needed.
This compact standard zoom is designed for APS-C-format Canon EF-S-mount DSLRs and offers a 28.8-88mm equivalent focal length range. One aspherical element reduces distortion and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range to maintain sharpness and clarity. Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimise ghosting and flare for greater contrast and colour neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions. An optical image stabilizer helps reduce the appearance of camera shake by up to four shutter speed stops to enable better working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds. A micromotor autofocus system provides quick focusing performance, and a dedicated AF/MF switch allows for fast switching between auto and manual focusing methods. The minimum focusing distance of 9.8" is available throughout the zoom range for working with close-up subjects. The rounded six-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.
