The Canon EOS 55 is a 35 mm autofocus SLR camera released by Canon in mid-1995. It was targeted at semi-advanced amateur photographers and has many cool features, including Eye control focus. It is as easy to use as a point and take pictures. It is mostly automatic, including film loading. The lenses of the Canon EOS 55 are interchangeable. This Camera is sold Body only. It comes with a Canon EF bayonet, so lenses are readily available. The Canon EOS 55 is an autofocus SLR. The autofocus point on this model can be selected by looking through the viewfinder.

This camera operates and takes good photos if left on Program Auto or Aperture Auto. If you use Manual or Shutter priority, you cannot tell what speed has been selected.    

The Canon EOS 55 has an exposure meter for measuring the exposure. It can be used with films from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The camera uses the DX code to determine the correct sensitivity of the film. The SLR camera determines the correct exposure by measuring through the lens (TTL). The Canon EOS 55 can set the aperture and exposure time automatically.  

The camera comes with a bulb mode for night photography. In this mode, the film is exposed as long as the shutter release button is pressed. There is a built-in flash for taking pictures when there is insufficient light. An external flash can be used with the 35 mm camera by hot shoe. The Canon EOS 55 has a thread for a tripod and a self-timer.
