This clean, preowned Leica SUMMARIT-M 90mm f/2.5 Lens (11646) S/N 4231651 6-Bit {E46} will be an excellent addition to any Leica M Kit. The Leica Summarit-M 90 mm f/2.5 (#11646) started production in 2008 and ended in 2014. It was designed to offer traditional Leica optical and mechanical excellence while positioned at a price level below the current M ASPH lenses. The aim of these lenses is to bring classic Leica’s quality and performance are important for a broader market of users. This 90mm lens is a versatile telephoto lens that rounds off the new lens speed class of Summarit-M lenses. Despite being much more handy and lighter than the comparable 90 mm Summicron lens, it offers outstanding optical and mechanical quality.
The Summarit-M maximum aperture of f/2.5 and the concentration on classical and proven spherical lens designs leads to very compact, but high-performance lenses with excellent quality are expected from a Leica lens.
The Summarit-M lenses will see the re-emergence of traditional Leica elements. All letter and number engravings will be made using the traditional "Leitz-Norm" font, originally used by Leitz Wetzlar in the 1960s. The red button on the lens mount will be true to the original colour used on lenses produced since the introduction of the M mount through the 1970s.
Lens mount – Leica M quick-change bayonet with 6-bit lens identification bar code for digital M models Filter Size – E46
With the 6-bit coding, some M-Lenses receive new markings on the bayonet ring during manufacture. These markings help digital Leica M-Cameras recognise the lens type and optimise the image quality. Thus, photographers can enjoy the imagery characteristics of their older M-Lenses in combination with contemporary digital photography.
