Nikon’s proprietary Multi-Focus System incorporates two separate AF drive units, which are synchronized, to deliver especially fast and accurate focusing throughout the zoom range. This system uses dual STM stepping motors, which offer impressively smooth and quiet autofocus performance that is well-suited to stills and video applications. The programmable linear focus ring also allows for manual focus with smooth rotation in either direction.
The Plena’s thoughtful design does not stop at its superlative imagery. The optical design directly impacts the lens’s satisfying, all-metal construction, creating a lighter-weight, carry-around lens that will take 82mm filters. The lens is also customizable with a clickless control ring that adjusts aperture, ISO, exposure compensation, and an easily-reached assignable Fn button.
